Michael Kang is an attorney with over eight years of experience successfully resolving a wide variety of disputes as an attorney in private practice and as in-house counsel for a large enterprise. Such disputes include breaches of contract, securities violations, trade secrets, real estate, intellectual property, and employee complaints.
Michael obtained his law degree from UCLA Law in 2012 after graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UC San Diego in three years with a degree in Political Science and an admission to Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. While at UCLA, Michael worked as a summer associate for Latham & Watkins LLP where he received an offer to return as a full-time associate upon graduation, which he accepted. After graduating from law school, Michael worked at Latham’s Orange County and Silicon Valley offices where he primarily litigated disputes arising out of purported securities violations and M&A deals. In order to broaden his litigation experience, Michael joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP’s Silicon Valley office where he practiced as a general litigator, representing clients in matters involving breaches of contract, trade secrets, intellectual property, and real estate.
Michael next ventured into the corporate life, joining one of the nation’s top defense companies to serve as in-house counsel where he reported directly to the general counsel. Michael focused primarily on advising and resolving company matters relating to COVID-19, employee disputes, intellectual property, internal investigations, M&A deals, and breaches of contract. While Michael enjoyed his time in-house and learned a great amount, he realized that he missed litigating as a private practice attorney and decided to join Wood Litigation in 2020.
